At Lucion, we’re not just talking about sustainability – we’re actively driving change. Our commitment to carbon reduction is more than a corporate policy; it’s a fundamental part of our business ethos and operations.
Here’s how we’re making a difference:
Ambitious Net Zero Target
Lucion, including all our subsidiaries, has made a bold commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2045. This target, five years ahead of the UK government’s 2050 goal, demonstrates our leadership in environmental responsibility within our industry.
Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)
We’re taking our commitment a step further by aligning with the Science-Based Targets initiative. This ensures our carbon reduction efforts are not just ambitious, but also scientifically validated and in line with the Paris Climate Accord’s 1.5°C pathway.
Comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan
Our carbon reduction strategy is multifaceted and touches every aspect of our operations:
- Fleet Efficiency: We’ve installed Lightfoot driver technology in most of our fleet vans, reducing CO2 emissions by 49 tonnes annually.
- Electric Vehicle Integration: We’ve introduced electric vans and are exploring self-charging commercial hybrid vehicles.
- Flexible Working: We’ve implemented remote working technologies, significantly reducing commuting and travel-related emissions.
- Office Rationalisation: We’re optimising our office estate, focusing on energy-efficient buildings and reducing our overall footprint.
- Sustainable Travel: We’ve appointed a travel management provider to promote greener journey options.
- Active Commuting: We encourage cycling and walking by providing facilities like secure bike storage and showers.
Carbon Offsetting and Positive Impact
While we focus on reducing our emissions, we also offset our residual carbon footprint through verified Gold Standard certified carbon offset projects. Additionally, we support environmental projects annually, such as tree planting and marine habitat restoration, linking our efforts to our growing staff numbers.
