Large-scale industrial sites often face complex environmental and safety challenges, particularly when it comes to asbestos management. Our client’s car manufacturing plant, with its 400,000 sq metres of operational space, required a thorough evaluation of potential asbestos presence and airborne fibre levels to ensure worker safety and regulatory compliance.
The project stakeholders recognised the critical need for a detailed and accurate asbestos assessment that could inform ongoing management decisions and guide safety protocols. This would not only provide a clear understanding of the potential asbestos risks but also serve as an invaluable tool for developing effective mitigation strategies.
To achieve this, the project required a multi-faceted approach integrating various assessment techniques, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) air monitoring. The team needed to conduct comprehensive asbestos management surveys, perform air sampling, and use advanced SEM analysis to detect even the lowest levels of airborne asbestos fibres.
