We were approached by our client to carry out surveys and create a Revit model to demonstrate the impact of a £207 million tram extension designed to allow passengers to travel 4.69km from the city center to the Newhaven waterfront.
Because the tram extension would run past apartments, the client wanted to visualize the effects the development would have on residential properties. They requested a Revit model showing apartment buildings along the new route as well as conventional topographic and 3D laser scanning surveys to identify other factors to consider.
A Revit model, created on Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, includes both precise data points and a visual representation of what is being surveyed. In this case, we plotted the apartment building models and the proposed tram line to analyse how the properties would be impacted by the new infrastructure.
In addition to the Revit modelling, we also carried out a conventional topographic survey, which is vital for informing the design process of any construction site.
