This course provides delegates with the necessary knowledge to allow them to prepare and ship a variety of radioactive materials / waste from offshore locations under the IMDG code. Individuals attending this course must have a working knowledge of the IMDG Code and its general application.

There is a course exam, and successful delegates will be awarded a certificate of competence to prepare shipments of:

  • Excepted Packages (UN2910 + UN2911),
  • LSA-I (UN2912) and
  • Surface Contaminated Objects (UN2913)

The course covers the following subjects:

• Basic Physics of Ionising Radiations
• Biological Effects of Ionising Radiation
• NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material)
• Requirements of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code
• Preparation of shipments, including all labelling and paperwork
