About the UK Radon Association

The UK Radon Association serves as the foremost trade association representing professionals engaged in radon testing, remediation, and protection across the United Kingdom.

Their core objectives include increasing public awareness about radon, educating property professionals, advocating for enhanced regulations, and fostering collaboration within the industry.

Collaborative Goals

As a member of the UK Radon Association, we are aligned with their key objectives:

  • Raising awareness about radon among homeowners, homebuyers, employers, property professionals, and health practitioners.
  • Advocating for stronger legislation and more effective enforcement to minimise radon exposure risks.
  • Collaborating with governmental bodies, international counterparts, and organisations such as World Health Organization (WHO) to benefit both our members and the public.
  • Promoting best practices through comprehensive training and resources for radon professionals.
  • Providing a reputable list of commercial members who meet rigorous membership criteria.
  • Offering accessible and non-technical advice to diverse groups, including property buyers/sellers, landlords, and employers.

Understanding Radon

Radon, a colourless and odourless radioactive gas, originates from the natural decay of uranium found in rocks and soils. It enters buildings due to indoor pressure differentials, which pose potential health hazards. Exposure to radon radiation can lead to tissue damage and lung cancer.

The UK Health Security Agency estimates that over 1000 people die from radon-related lung cancer each year, making radon exposure a prominent cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.
