Our specialist environmental consultancy company, Lucion Delta-Simons Ltd, has appointed Theresa Atutu as Head of Sustainability, reinforcing its commitment to delivering expert guidance through an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

Theresa brings over a decade of specialist experience in sustainability reporting, energy compliance, and environmental strategy. Her appointment comes at a critical time as organisations prepare for the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Phase 4 compliance deadline of 5 December 2027, whilst navigating evolving disclosure requirements and ambitious Net Zero targets.

Lucion Delta-Simons Ltd’s Business Unit Director, Martin Lucass, commented:

“Theresa’s appointment represents a significant strengthening of our sustainability capabilities at a crucial time for UK businesses.

With ESOS Phase 4 now well underway and the regulatory landscape becoming increasingly complex, organisations need trusted advisers who can translate compliance requirements into strategic opportunities.

Theresa’s depth of expertise makes her ideally placed to help our clients navigate these challenges whilst driving meaningful environmental impact.”

ESOS Lead Assessor Expertise

As a qualified ESOS Lead Assessor, Theresa brings critical expertise at a pivotal moment in the compliance cycle. With the Phase 4 qualification date of 31 December 2026 approaching and just over a year remaining until the December 2027 deadline, organisations in scope need to act now to measure energy consumption, conduct audits, and identify cost-effective energy saving opportunities.

Exploring the impact of ESOS on businesses, Theresa said:

“Early preparation is essential, not just to avoid penalties, but to align ESOS compliance with the UK Government’s wider net zero and decarbonisation strategies.

ESOS Phase 4 is an opportunity to embed energy efficiency into business planning, and I’m looking forward to helping Lucion’s clients turn regulatory requirements into strategic advantage.”

Trusted Expertise

A Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) with ISEP and qualified BREEAM Assessor, Theresa has developed and implemented Net Zero strategies, led GHG accounting and Life Cycle Assessments, and embedded circular economy principles across complex projects.

Her expertise spans the full range of UK and international reporting standards including GRI, CSRD, ISSB, CDP, and SBTi, alongside practical application of frameworks such as ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and BREEAM.

Strategic Leadership For Lucion’s Sustainability Division

In her new role, Theresa will provide strategic leadership to Lucion’s sustainability team, overseeing assessments and delivery from scoping through to implementation. Her focus will be on helping clients navigate regulatory complexity with confidence, turning environmental commitments into clear, contextualised, actionable outcomes, whether preparing for ESOS Phase 4, developing Net Zero roadmaps, or responding to emerging disclosure requirements.

“The sustainability landscape is evolving rapidly, and organisations need trusted partners who can cut through the complexity,” added Theresa. “I’m excited to join Lucion and work with clients to develop robust, practical strategies that deliver real environmental impact.”
