Mental health matters. At Lucion, we're transforming workplace wellbeing through a comprehensive approach that puts our people first.
Our commitment goes beyond traditional support systems, creating a culture where mental health conversations are as natural as discussing physical safety on site.
A Three-Pillar Approach to Mental Wellbeing
Our strategy is built on three essential pillars: Educate, Engage, and Empower. As Carolyn Cole, our Chief People Officer, explains:
“Our approach to mental wellbeing isn’t just about implementing programmes – it’s about creating lasting cultural change.
We educate our people with the knowledge and tools they need, engage them through authentic communities, and empower them to drive positive change throughout our organisation.”
Education at the Forefront
In 2025, we’re undertaking an ambitious initiative to train 10% of our workforce as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs). This strategic deployment ensures support is readily available across all our locations, from boardrooms to site offices.
Our MHFAs are trained through MHFA England’s internationally recognised programme, equipping them with the skills to:
- Spot early signs of mental health challenges
- Provide initial support and guidance
- Direct colleagues to appropriate professional resources
- Facilitate confidential conversations without judgement
- Building Inclusive Communities
We are pleased to report that by the end of September 2025, we will have trained 36 people in Mental Health First Aid, certified by Mental Health England. By the end of 2025, all of our Lucion Managers, over 60 team members, will have trained in Mental Health Awareness and a further 15 of our non-managerial team will have also trained.
Practical Support and Resources
But mental health is more than just training and ticking boxes. Our commitment to our team extends to practical, everyday support through:
- Westfield Health membership offering wellbeing classes and GP services
- Doubled volunteer days (now 2 paid days annually) for community engagement
- Comprehensive management training through our Lucion Lifecycle programme
- Period dignity initiative ensuring free period products across all locations
As signatories of the Building Mental Health Charter, we’re actively investing in new initiatives that promote mental wellbeing within our business. Phil Coles, our Chief Executive Officer, emphasises:
“The mental health of everyone within the Lucion team is critical to our success and must be fundamental to our culture. We’re creating an environment where people feel supported, valued, and able to bring their whole selves to work.”
Whether you’re looking for a supportive work environment or want to be part of driving positive change in our industry, Lucion offers more than just a job – we offer a community committed to supporting each other’s success and wellbeing.
