As part of our ongoing commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, Lucion is proud to announce a collaboration with IT provider, Wavenet, to refurbish and donate 20 laptops to a local primary school in need.

The laptops which were no longer in use at Lucion have found a new purpose at St Nicolas CE Primary School in Brighton and Hove. In line with Lucion’s efforts to reduce waste, this initiative not only repurposes valuable resources but also offers much-needed support to local education.

Schools across the region, including St Nicolas CE Primary School in Brighton and Hove, have been struggling with decreased funding, with 85% currently operating at a budget deficit. PTA fundraising efforts have become crucial for covering basic costs, making donations like these all the more impactful.

Area Director, Larne Fuller and Wavenet Engineer, Phil Aston attended the school recently to hand over the refurbished laptops to Headmaster, Andy Richbell.

“Lucion works very closely with the education sector so we’re thrilled to be able to support a local school. There are a lot of financial pressures currently on these establishments, particularly primary schools, and so being able to replace some of their ageing IT equipment was very well received!”

-Larne Fuller, Area Director (South), Lucion Hazardous Materials Services

By partnering with Wavenet, Lucion has been able to ensure the laptops are properly refurbished and ready for use, demonstrating the real value of collaboration in supporting local communities. All laptops were hardware tested and examined, cleaned, reloaded with Windows 10, and updated.

“Wavenet is pleased to collaborate with Lucion to re-purpose laptops and enable their use by St Nicolas C of E Primary School at no cost, supporting the education of local children. Use of laptops in the classroom enhances pupil engagement and increases their access to information, building digital literacy skills which are critical for young people in the future.”

-Helen Wright – Head of Compliance, Wavenet

Lucion remains committed to rehoming unused IT equipment to reduce waste and provide meaningful benefits to organisations in need. This initiative marks just the beginning, as we continue to explore ways to support schools and other community organisations through donations, recycling, and other socially responsible efforts.
