Our flagship internal safety initiative empowers every team member to be an active participant in our safety culture. TCBA works on a two-way feedback system, encouraging all colleagues to submit observations, suggestions, near misses, and incidents. Each regional office has elected health and safety representatives who promote high standards company-wide.

This collaborative approach has led to significant improvements in our safety practices and helped create a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility.

The success of TCBA is evidenced by our year-on-year decrease in workplace incidents and increased engagement in safety discussions across all levels of the organisation.

Developed in partnership with the Institute of Advanced Motorists and University of Bath experts, our Lightfoot system represents the cutting edge in fleet safety management. This innovative technology provides drivers with real-time in-cab coaching via a dashboard display device, utilising advanced engine analytics to guide safer and more efficient driving practices.  

The system rewards ‘Elite Driver’ status to top performers, creating healthy competition and maintaining high standards. Since implementation, we’ve seen significant improvements in driving behaviour, reduced fuel consumption, and decreased incident rates across our fleet operations. 

In 2025, we’re implementing an ambitious plan to train 10% of our workforce as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs). This strategic initiative ensures that support is readily available across all our locations and operations. Our MHFAs receive comprehensive training to: 

• Recognise early warning signs of mental health challenges
• Provide initial support and guidance
• Facilitate access to professional help when needed
• Create safe spaces for mental health conversations
• Support colleagues through various life challenges

This network of trained individuals forms a crucial part of our wider wellbeing strategy, ensuring no colleague has to face mental health challenges alone.

The Brew Crew 

Led by Dave Cage, Brew Crew creates informal, comfortable spaces for men to discuss mental health that aims to break down traditional barriers through simple, effective engagement 

Circles Initiative 

Circles is a dedicated women’s development and support network that features two distinct streams: community support and professional development. 

With regular workshops and mentoring opportunities, Circles provides a safe space for discussing workplace challenges and supporting women’s career progression and personal growth
