We are proud to announce that the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has awarded Lucion Gold for group-wide health and safety performance in 2023.

The Importance of RoSPA in UK Health and Safety

Operating for over a century, RoSPA plays a fundamental role in UK health and safety, campaigning for best safety practises implementation and continuous safety management system improvement. RoSPA’s support, resources, and training offer client reassurance that awarded suppliers have evidenced effective health and safety practises business-wide.

In 2022/23, HSE reported 135 worker fatalities in work-related accidents. Health and safety failures massively disrupt organisation costs and individual quality of life. RoSPA’s annual Health and Safety awards, established in 1956, recognise good performance and offer organisations the chance to demonstrate continuous commitment to sustaining and developing practises.

Lucion’s RoSPA Gold Achievement

Lucion and our subsidiary companies including; Lucion Services, Delta-Simons Ltd, Aberdeen Radiation Protection Services, Landform Surveys Ltd, Midland Survey and Ground Engineering Ltd, are re-awarded two Gold awards for our outstanding practises. This latest group-wide win acknowledges our commitment and provides a prestigious accolade to share with clients.

Due to continued internal engagement and communication strategy development, we’ve seen year-on-year accident/incident decreases. Enhancing communication methods and investing in effective team engagement has positively altered our health and safety culture. As a team-led organisation, our policies, procedures, and practises are heavily influenced by team members’ Take Care Be Aware observation submissions. Developing practises and engaging with members has been fundamental to upholding our RoSPA Gold Health and Safety award.

Lightfoot: Our Fleet Safety Technology Initiative

Our Fleet Safety technology initiative Lightfoot, developed with the Institute of Advanced Motorists and University of Bath experts, provides drivers with real-time in-cab coaching via a dashboard display device. Using advanced, real-time engine analytics, it guides drivers to improve efficiency and safety, rewarding Elite Driver status. This has been key to achieving RoSPA Gold for the 8th consecutive year in managing our fleet safety.

The RoSPA Award Submission Process

Submitting for RoSPA awards takes a significant collective effort from stakeholders over 3-4 weeks, including drafting, revising, and evidencing responses. Achieving Gold demonstrates our approach to managing safety, health and wellbeing is continually improving, showing clients and industry that Lucion are trusted supplier of sustainable risk management services.

The Take Care, Be Aware (TCBA) Initiative

As an ambitious growth company, we established and continue developing our Take Care, Be Aware (TCBA) internal initiative. Team members from each regional office vote for a health and safety representative to promote high standards company-wide.

TCBA works on a two-way feedback system encouraging all members to submit observations, suggestions, near misses and accidents. These are reviewed and educate practice development.
