18th January, 2018

Lucion will focus on the critical asbestos and environmental challenges around the development of cost-effective and safe fossil fuel power plant decommissioning programs, at two industry-leading conferences this winter and spring.

Stuart Goodman, Safety consultant at Lucion, will give presentations at Europe’s Decommissioning and Demolition of Conventional Power Plants Conference (15 – 16 February, Berlin) before heading to Lisbon, Portugal for the Decommissioning and Demolition Forum: Fossil Fuel Power Stations (15th March).

The events will see representatives from across the power generation, EPC (engineering procurement and construction), demolition and environmental remediation sectors gather to consider the environmental and safety issues associated with the decommissioning of fossil fuel power plants.

The Decommissioning and Demolition of Conventional Power Plants Conference will focus on requirements around the phasing out of fossil fuel generation assets and advancing the demolition process.

The Decommissioning and Demolition Forum will see delegates gain a better insight into the planning, preparation, and execution of decommissioning and demolition projects for conventional power plants, identifying some of the best practices undertaken by utilities and contractors, who have experience in demolishing and dismantling power plants.

The main sponsor of both events, Lucion’s presentation will detail the material and environmental challenges involved in decommissioning power plants, showcasing its involvement at the Ferrybridge and Eggborough power stations in Yorkshire.

The presentations will include experience gained from involvement in other hazardous material management projects as well as consider the role of strategic asbestos management.

Stuart’s talk will also cover managing hazardous insulation materials, safe removal practices, and environmental planning and remediation issues associated with contaminated land management.

Lucion is again delighted to support and participate in these events, which offer those involved in power plant decommissioning policy and specification the opportunity to learn about best practice solutions, exchange opinions and ideas, and build new business relationships.
