We are proud to announce that Survey Manager Luke Deas from our specialist land and building surveying company, Lucion Survey Ltd, has been invited to speak at the KOREC Trimble User Conference 2026 (KTUC26).

Taking place this October at Belton Woods, Lincolnshire, KTUC26 is the UK & Ireland’s leading geospatial event, now expanded to two days for the first time. Bringing together around 150 attendees, including surveying specialists, tier 1 contractors, and geospatial professionals from organisations such as AECOM, Balfour Beatty and Northumbrian Water Group, the conference is designed to showcase smarter workflows, cutting-edge technology, and the integration of field and office data.

This year’s event is CPD certified by the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES), reflecting the calibre of insight on offer.

Luke Deas, Survey Manager at Lucion Survey Ltd, will take to the stage as part of the Customer Stories track, sharing the platform with other industry names including Plowman Craven, SPL Powerlines and Strabag.

A deep dive into large-scale digital surveying

Luke’s session will centre on one of Lucion Survey’s most significant recent projects with Durham University. The survey team conducted an extensive 3D laser scanning programme using Trimble X9 equipment that saw 8–10 dedicated building surveyors document 42 buildings across the university’s historic campus from data to deliverable in just 18 weeks, using Trimble X9 laser scanning technology.

You can read the full case study on our website by clicking here.

Luke’s talk, titled ‘ Trimble X9 Data to deliverable ‘ will cover:

  • Why Lucion Survey chose Trimble X9 scanners
  • Shifting from traditional methods to cutting-edge scanning almost overnight
  • Scaling output by 150% to meet project demand
  • Turning raw scan data into finished deliverables
  • The software and platforms used to manage large-scale projects
  • The volume of data captured and how it was managed

Attendees can expect an honest, practical account of what it takes to scan at this volume and scale, despite being a relatively modest-sized team, and the lessons learned in getting there.

Ahead of the conference, Luke commented:

“Durham University was a fantastic project to be part of. The scale of it pushed us to rethink how we work almost overnight. I’m looking forward to giving people an honest look at what it actually takes to deliver a project like this, covering things like the equipment decisions, the workflow changes, and the challenges that come with scanning at that volume. It’s a great opportunity to represent Lucion Survey in front of our peers and share what we’ve learned.”

Will Vennard, Business Unit Director at Lucion Survey Ltd, added:

“Being invited to speak at KTUC26 is real recognition of the work our survey team has put in, not just on Durham University but across our wider portfolio. Luke is exactly the right person to share this story. He’s been at the heart of the project and understands both the technical detail and the bigger picture of how we’ve transformed our approach to large-scale digital surveying.

We’re looking forward to seeing him represent Lucion on such a strong industry stage.”
