Playing it Safe? Not Our Team Captain! Lucion Supports International Sports Success

As part of Lucion's commitment to supporting our people and their passions, we're proud to have sponsored James Dixon, from our Operations Support team in Gateshead, in his recent journey to the European Masters Cup in Kladno.

This sponsorship support is part of our wider social value initiative, which empowers employees to make a difference in their communities and pursue their personal achievements. 

Breaking New Ground in European Competition 

James, who serves as Team Captain for Team GB’s Ball Hockey Masters team, led his squad in a tournament featuring some of Europe’s finest Masters level (+35) club teams, including the world champion national teams from Czechia and Slovakia. 

The tournament proved historic for British Ball Hockey, as James’ team became the first-ever Team GB squad at over-age levels to secure a victory.  

In a thrilling match, James demonstrated exceptional leadership both on and off the court, scoring a crucial goal and orchestrating a remarkable comeback that saw his team score twice in just 40 seconds following his strategic timeout. 

“Ball Hockey in the UK is entirely self-funded, so I’m incredibly grateful to Lucion for their sponsorship that helped make this possibility a success.  

The tournament has opened up exciting new opportunities, including an invitation to play in the prestigious Tatry Cup in Czechia, and potentially taking on the Head Coach role for the Team GB Legends in Ostrava in 2026.”
