This year's event will be hosted in the iconic London Aquatics Centre at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 25-29 May. Lincoln Pentaqua Masters will be competing with swimmers, divers and synchronised swimmers from across the continent in an historic first. The Masters event is held together with the elite LEN European Swimming, Diving and Synchronised Swimming Championships to form the LEN European Aquatics Championships 2016.
A team of 15 hopefuls from Lincoln Pentaqua are heading off to the championships with 14 swimmers competing in the 50m, 100m, 200m and 800m and relay races, whilst one diver - Rose Townsend - will be representing the club.
The Lincoln Masters team, based at Lincoln Christ's Hospital School, encourages swimmers of varying levels of ability. Special credit goes to coach, Ian Turner, who drew up the programme for the Masters training. Ian has previously been Head Coach for the National Teams of England, Great Britain and Singapore, training four Pentaqua swimmers to become Olympic Qualifiers and one to become an Olympic medallist. As a result, this talented team of 15 have qualified to compete against Masters from all over Europe at the end of May.
