1st June, 2023

June marks Bike Week, the UK’s largest cycling awareness week, and also sees the celebration of the United Nations World Bicycle Day, held annually by the United Nations to promote a sustainable transport system and achieve health equity. Cycling contributes to cleaner air, less congestion and positive health benefits. This June, our teams across Lucion Group will be getting on their bikes for the annual Castle To Coast To Castle (C2C2C) 100-mile charity bike ride across Lincolnshire.

About C2C2C

First held in 2011, the C2C2C (castle to coast to castle) was introduced as a way to get more people cycling, raise some money for charity and have some fun. There were 79 participants in the first event, of whom 55 had never ridden the 100-mile distance before. Over the last decade, C2C2C have had over 4600 people riding in the event, and have now raised just short of £200,000 to support local Lincolnshire charities. In addition to this many riders have used the event to raise money for their own nominated charities.

This year the ride takes place on Thursday 29th June 2023. Held on a weekday, the C2C2C event aims to get people from local businesses out of the office and onto their bikes whilst raising money for charity.

The Charities

Each year the event selects different charities to support and every penny of rider donations goes to these charities. The 2023 charities are:

  1. Children’s Bereavement Centre - Based in Newark, the Centre is open to children aged 3 to 18 and we offer a welcoming and safe environment for them and their families to receive the help and guidance they need at one of the most devastating times in their lives.
  2. Men’s Sheds - Men’s Sheds are community spaces for men to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of men to enjoy together. As a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, they help reduce loneliness and isolation.
  3. MS Society - MS Society funds world-leading research into Multiple Sclerosis. The Lincoln Group provides support and an opportunity for those living with MS to connect with other people from the community and share experiences.
