Lucion is excited to announce the appointment of Consultant, Alex Rea to the Early Careers Advisory Board (ECAB), part of Environment Analyst’s Sustainability Delivery Group.
We are proud to be part of Environment Analyst’s Sustainability Delivery Group, leading the way in driving transformative change within the environmental and sustainability consultancy sector. Together with industry peers, we are committed to addressing critical challenges and unlocking the sector’s potential to drive sustainability.
As part of the Sustainability Delivery Group, the Early Careers Advisory Board (ECAB) was established to foster cooperation and collaboration between environmental and sustainability consulting firms. The goal is to tackle the industry-wide skills shortage and attract more young professionals into the sector.
Building on Strong Foundations
Principal Consultant, James Bickle, joined the ECAB in 2021, playing a key role in its initiatives over the last three years. His contributions include launching the Early Career Survey, which provided valuable insights into industry trends, and organising a free webinar series designed to share knowledge and experiences with aspiring consultants.
With James now passing the baton, we are thrilled to announce that Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant, Alex Rea, has stepped in to represent Lucion.
Meet Alex Rea
Alex joined Lucion as a graduate in 2022 and was promoted to consultant earlier this year, following his impressive performance and contributions to the team. His passion for sustainability and commitment to the industry make him the perfect fit to continue Lucion’s active involvement in the ECAB.
Commenting on his recent appointment, Alex said:
“I found the concept of ECAB fascinating, as it involves multiple industry leading companies collaborating to identify and collectively address industry-wide challenges. Despite being competitors, we face common issues, such as the insufficient number of young professionals entering our industry to meet the growing demand for environmental work across the UK. I’m excited to join this conversation and contribute solutions wherever I can.”
What’s Next?
Alex participated in his first ECAB meeting recently, where discussions focused on addressing the shortage of young professionals entering the industry. Alex had the opportunity to partner with another representative focusing on university students. Their goal is to increase awareness of the industry in universities by coordinating the ECAB group companies’ outreach campaigns. By collaborating, they are aiming to provide consistent and organised exposure across the UK, ensuring that their collective efforts enhance the visibility for the environmental and sustainability industry.
As the newest member, Alex is eager to build on the solid foundation laid by James and continue driving ECAB’s initiatives forward.
“I am delighted that Alex has picked up the baton from James. Participation in ECAB is incredibly valuable for us as a smaller environmental and sustainability consultancy. It allows us to bring back industry-leading insights and best practices, which in turn accelerates our internal programs. By leveraging the knowledge and collaborative experiences shared by global peers, we can enhance our people initiatives and drive continuous improvement within the business.”
-Damian Robinson, Managing Director – Environment & Sustainability
A Bright Future Ahead
Under James Bickle’s leadership, ECAB achieved significant milestones and Lucion is excited to support Alex in this new chapter and looks forward to the fresh perspectives and ideas he will bring to the board.
