Lucion is delighted to announce that Alex Meakin has joined the business as Chief Financial Officer, bringing with him over two decades of finance leadership experience across private equity-backed businesses and major corporates.
Alex joined Lucion on 27th April 2026, taking on responsibility for the financial oversight of the Group and ensuring aligned strategic and financial direction. He works closely with the Group’s banks, advisors, and our private equity investors, Palatine Private Equity.
A Unique Blend of Engineering and Finance
Alex has had a distinctive career journey. Starting as a design and software engineer with a Master’s Degree in Engineering, Alex worked in the automotive and IT sectors before making an early career switch to accounting. He qualified as a chartered accountant (FCA) with PwC, where he worked as an audit manager, before moving into industry to take on increasingly senior finance roles.
This unique combination of technical and financial expertise provides Alex with a comprehensive understanding of business operations and the ability to leverage technology to drive financial performance.
Proven Track Record in Private Equity-Backed Growth
Alex joins Lucion from Dufrain Consulting, where he served as CFO and was instrumental in supporting the company’s growth trajectory following investment from private equity firm Phoenix Equity Partners. Prior to that, he held the CFO position at Brookson Group, a private equity-backed, technology-enabled services business, where he was responsible for M&A, debt financing, financial planning and analysis, and due diligence. Alex successfully led Brookson through a sale to People 2.0 in May 2022.
His two-decade career also includes senior finance roles at major organisations including Thomas Cook, Manchester Airport, and Barclays, giving him a breadth of experience across multiple sectors including travel, aviation, financial services, and technology.
Data-Driven Financial Leadership
A strong proponent of leveraging technology in finance, Alex is passionate about using automation to improve efficiency and control, whilst applying advanced data analytics and data science techniques to drive strategic decision-making. He is equally committed to developing our finance team to enhance their data analytics capabilities, maximising both their impact on the business and their career potential.
