Associate Director
Our Associate Director, Gary Shawley, leads a team of specialist Geotechnical and Geo-Environmental consultants.
After graduating from university in 2002 with a 1st class Masters Degree in Geology, Gary has accrued 24 years experience within the geoenvironmental and geotechnical industry. He specialises in geology, engineering geology, mine working reclamation schemes, earthworks and contaminated land assessment and remediation for residential, industrial, commercial and defence land sectors. Gary has worked on small to large scale residential, commercial and multi-disciplinary projects with complex engineering challenges including the Swansea University Student Accommodation, the redevelopment of former complex industrial sites, reclamation of landfill sites for residential end use, the reclamation and redevelopment strategy of a former 120m deep back filled open cast pit and coastal Defence Schemes in north-west Wales.
He is an experienced project manager for a diverse range of projects in the UK. Gary is responsible for the running of the Bristol and Southwest region of Lucions Geo-environmental operations but has UK wide knowledge and is familiar with the geology of much of the UK and their associated engineering properties, risks and liabilities.
Having been in Consultancy for over 24 years Gary has become proficient in providing support and advice to clients starting from initial due diligence stages of a project all the way through to the provision of support for planning applications, tender, remediation and validation of contaminated sites.
Being somewhat of a hybrid engineer, Gary has particular interests in both Geoenvironmental and Geotechnical projects with experience and specialisms in earthworks schemes, both supporting design and validating, detailed quantitative risk assessments for soil and ground waters, waste streams and settlement analysis and rock mechanics utilising Rocscience software packages.
