Chris Callaghan is Principal Arboricultural Consultant at Lucion, bringing over two decades of extensive experience in arboriculture and environmental management across major infrastructure and public sector projects.

Before joining Lucion in 2025, Chris spent nearly 16 years at Network Rail, most recently as Senior Arboriculturist, where he managed a specialist team of arborists and ecologists across the North West & Central region, spanning from London to Gretna Green. His responsibilities included overseeing comprehensive tree stock surveys, problematic tree management, and leaf fall species monitoring, as well as leading the response to challenges such as ash dieback.

A member of the Arboricultural Association, Chris’s expertise extends to developing vegetation management specifications that balance risk mitigation with biodiversity enhancement, demonstrating his commitment to sustainable environmental practices. His experience working with organisations spanning multiple industries has given him valuable insight into managing arboricultural challenges across diverse infrastructure environments.

As an ISA Certified Arborist and qualified Tree Risk Assessment professional, Chris combines technical expertise with practical field experience. His recent achievements include obtaining an IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management and a CMI Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership, reflecting his commitment to continuous professional development.
