Alex Pelton

Alex’s prior experience as Group Biodiversity Manager at Barratt Developments plc and Biodiversity Technical Lead on the DfE School Rebuilding Project Framework for Mace has equipped him with an invaluable set of skills essential for developing, delivering and managing biodiversity net gain and ecological projects. His extensive experience in using all versions of the Biodiversity Metric, notably the Statutory Biodiversity Metric and detailed habitat and land use mapping set him apart in the field of ecology. In addition, Alex has experience of working on biodiversity for projects under both the Scottish and Welsh legislative and policy frameworks.

Alex’s hands-on experience of biodiversity and ecology legislative requirements in the built environment allow him to identify, understand and implement a range of Client-focused solutions and explain these to audiences from a range of backgrounds at fora including UKREiiF, DfE Education Estates and the MoJ Biodiversity Special Interest Group.

Over the past eight years, Alex has gained practical ecological experience surveying habitats and protected species on a range of public and private sector projects, notably HS2 Phase 2b and East West Rail. Alex has a track record of successful project management and delivery, technical report writing and assurance, GIS and stakeholder engagement underpins his ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and address complex issues.
